Tour Itinerary: 7 Days Tour from Tangier to Marrakech

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen

We pick you up from the airport or port in Tangier and start our journey toward Chefchaouen. We cross the city of Tetouan and continue through the beautiful Rif Mountains. Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, we explore its peaceful and charming medina, famous for its blue and white buildings.

Discover Makhzen Square, the exterior of the Great Mosque, and the historic Jewish Quarter. Continue through the medina and explore traditional craft shops where local artisans display their handmade products. Enjoy a walk through the valley and admire the beautiful blue and white walls, traditional windows, and colorful doors.

The architecture of Chefchaouen reflects strong Andalusian influences, creating a unique atmosphere throughout the old town. After exploring the city, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the night in a magnificent riad.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss – Fes

After breakfast, leave Chefchaouen and travel toward Volubilis, one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in Morocco. Explore the ancient ruins and discover the remains of Roman buildings, columns, streets, and beautiful mosaics.

Enjoy a guided visit with a local guide who will explain the history of the Roman presence in Morocco and the importance of Volubilis. After the visit, continue toward Moulay Idriss, one of Morocco’s most important pilgrimage towns. Take some time to admire the town and its surrounding landscapes.

Continue toward Meknes, an important imperial city in northern Morocco with a fascinating history and rich architectural heritage. Founded in the 11th century and later developed into an important royal city during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail, Meknes became one of Morocco’s great imperial capitals.

Since 1996, the historic city of Meknes has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the main gate of the medina, Bab Mansour, and explore Lahdim Square before continuing toward Fes.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

After breakfast, leave Fes and begin the journey toward the Merzouga Desert. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and pass through Imouzzer-Kandar before reaching Ifrane, a beautiful mountain town known for its distinctive architecture and green surroundings.

Continue toward Azrou, where you may have the opportunity to see Barbary macaques living in the cedar forests. From Azrou, continue toward Zaida and Midelt, where you will have time to enjoy lunch.

After lunch, continue through the spectacular landscapes toward the Ziz Valley. The route offers beautiful views of palm groves, mountains, and traditional villages. Continue toward Errachidia and then Erfoud, famous for its fossils and marble workshops, where you can enjoy a short coffee break.

Continue through the changing desert landscapes toward Rissani and finally Merzouga. Upon arrival, prepare for your camel trek through the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Ride the camels across the dunes and enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Sahara. Continue to your desert camp, where you will enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night in a traditional desert tent under the stars.

Day 4: Erg Chebbi Dunes – Merzouga Desert

Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, return by camel to the village of Merzouga and continue your exploration of the desert region by 4×4.

Visit Khamlia, a village inhabited by the Gnawa people of the Sahara. Discover their traditional spiritual music and dance and learn more about their cultural heritage.

Continue to visit a nomadic family living in the desert. Learn about their traditional lifestyle, share a cup of Moroccan tea with them, and discover how they adapt to life in this remote environment.

After the visit, continue toward a site of ancient rock engravings near Taouz. The excursion also gives you the opportunity to discover the Hamada landscapes and explore the black rocky plateaus surrounding the Erg Chebbi dunes.

At the end of the day, return to Merzouga and check into a beautiful traditional hotel with a swimming pool. Enjoy dinner and relax after your desert adventure.

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

After breakfast, leave Merzouga and follow a scenic route toward the Dades Valley through traditional oases and palm groves. Continue through the oases of Jorf and the spectacular landscapes surrounding the Todra Valley.

Arrive at the Todra Gorges and take time to explore the impressive canyon, where enormous limestone cliffs rise on both sides of the narrow valley. Enjoy lunch in the area before continuing toward the Dades Valley.

The road toward Dades offers beautiful landscapes, traditional villages, rocky formations, and oasis scenery. Stop in Boumalne Dades for photographs and panoramic views before continuing toward the Dades Gorges.

Arrive at your accommodation and enjoy a traditional dinner before spending the night in a local homestay.

Day 6: Dades Gorges – Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, enjoy a walk through the Dades Gorges before continuing toward the Valley of Roses. Discover the local production of rose water and learn about the traditional products made from locally grown roses.

Continue toward the Skoura Palm Grove, an oasis surrounded by traditional kasbahs and palm trees. Visit the historic Amridil Kasbah and discover its traditional architecture and fascinating history.

Continue toward Ouarzazate and pass by the Noor solar energy complex. Stop in Ouarzazate to visit the historic Taourirt Kasbah before continuing toward Ait Ben Haddou.

Arrive in the famous fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou and explore its traditional architecture and historic streets. Enjoy dinner and spend the night in a local hotel.

Day 7: Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Discover its traditional Berber architecture and learn about the history of this important cultural site, which has also been used as a filming location for several international productions.

After the visit, continue toward the High Atlas Mountains through the historic village of Telouat. Visit the Kasbah of Telouat, an important example of southern Moroccan architecture and the former residence of the Glaoui family.

Continue climbing toward the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, reaching an altitude of approximately 2,260 meters. Stop along the route to enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the High Atlas Mountains.

Continue through traditional Berber villages such as Tadart and Tazlida. Stop in the Toufliht area and visit the village of Ait Berka before beginning the descent toward Marrakech.

Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon or evening. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel, riad, or Marrakech airport, marking the end of your 7-day Morocco journey from Tangier.
